We are working today on the class of 2021 and the position rankings with our group of shooting guards. Here is what you need to know for these top flight prospects.
Overview:
The guard positions for the class of 2021 are very strong and the shooting guards have a ton of talent loaded up for them. With Pierce Thomas once again leading the group, we have a ton of depth with the Top 10 all looking at some DI interest.
One of the things that really stands out is the size. Thomas is nearing 6’5 if not there already and Michael Eley has grown quite a bit already. We have a lot of guys 6’3+ and they still have just a couple years to still grow more.
There is also a crazy amount of under-the-radar guys. This class is so well known already at the top but players that are going by the wayside because of location or overshadowing. Guys like Lincoln Hale, Brooks Barnhizer, and Jake Heidbreder are all really interesting guys that sit in our Top 10 but aren’t household names by any stretch. However, that should change.
New Additions:
As far as new additions, we have 11 new faces to add to both our shooting guard and overall rankings. We also have 11 guys that have had a position switch so that is 22 new players added to this group. The biggest of the bunch is Lafayette Jeff (IN) guard Brooks Barnhizer. The 6’5 talent is one of the best creators and shooters we have seen in the class and having just moved in from Alabama where he played as an 7th grader, Barnhizer already has more than 1,000 career points at the Varsity level before he moved back to Indiana. Along with Barnhizer, we have added Will Shank, Carter Lumpkin, Andrew Bennett, Preston Barker, Jackson Richards, Kobe Bartlett, Logan Pinkerton, Brady Hunter, Khamani Smith, and Nolan Kelley.
Stock Risers:
Stock risers in this group are led by Jake Heidbreder moving up 38 spots in our overall rankings. He was stellar against Lawrence North when we saw him earlier this year as a dominant scorer and more agile and effective than you would think. We also saw Zane Burke move up 6 spots in the position rankings. The other player of note is Michael Eley who we moved up to #2 at the position from #3.
