Donovan Newby (Bloom)
Previous Ranking: #38
Current Ranking: #28
Bloom has been one of the best teams this season in the state. Newby probably gets the least notoriety of the core four juniors, but he is a major reason for their success. The lead guard has done a nice job of getting others involved with his passing while picking his spots to score. Shown some growth as a shooter from three.
Trey Davis (St. Laurence)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #38
Davis went from unknown to inside the top 40 with his play during the holidays at the Jack Tosh Tournament. He proved to be a combo guard with a lights out shot from deep. The lefty junior was a big time shooter from deep both pulling up and off the catch. Look forward to seeing how other areas of his game develop.
Taaj Davis (Aurora Christian)
Previous Ranking: #89
Current Ranking: #66
Davis is another lefty point guard that we were impressed with early in the season. In a couple of evals at the Washington TOC he was a slick ball handler with the ability to get in the lane as well as push in the open floor. Quality shooter as well with range out to three.
Grant Niego (Lyons)
Previous Ranking: #114
Current Ranking: #87
Niego was outstanding in our couple of looks at him over the holidays. He is a quality athlete and high IQ point guard that gets others in the right spots to make plays. Runs the team and also mixes in scores. Mostly a shooting threat, but it was his improved game off the dribble that shined through.
Everett Stubblefield (Willowbrook)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #96
Stubblefield put himself on our radar at the Hinsdale Central Tournament. The junior 5’11” point guard is at his best when he gets downhill with his quickness off the bounce. Wins with his first step and also was very effective in transition getting to the cup. Solid passer that makes good decisions with the rock.
