It’s a subjective task and the rankings can be constantly changing. When people or companies rank players they have to be humble and able to admit mistakes.
At Prep Hoops, we ranked the senior class in Michigan. Guess what? We made mistakes.
Here are a few of the ‘oops moments’ in our class of 2019 rankings:
Clifford Barrow (6’3″, SG, Dearborn Advanced Tech)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #109
Barrow is a smooth shooting athlete. He has a quick release and shoots at a high percentage. Barrow is the definition of a scorer.
Ronald Jeffrey (6’1″, SG, New Haven)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #121
Jeffrey is a do-it-all type player who contributes on both ends. He has been the perfect compliment to Romeo Weems. Jeffrey has emerged this season as a top 100 player.
Yusef Jihad (6’7″, F, North Farmington)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #116
We definitely missed here. The Oakland signee is one of the top post players in the class. He’s long, athletic, and a good finisher at the rim.
Geoff Knaggs (6’3″, F, Fowlerville)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #189
Knaggs has proved our ranking to be way off. He’s versatile and athletic. Knaggs rebounds like a post player but has the ability to step out on the perimeter as well.
JD Rawls (6’0″, PG, Mt. Morris)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #175
He’s blown our #175 ranking out of the water. Rawls is a scoring point guard who can carry his team. He’s a floor leader who teammates are willing to follow.
Jon Sanders (5’11”, G, Southfield Christian)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #113
Sanders is having a big senior season. He’s an elite athlete who gets off the floor quickly. Sanders is an electrifying playmaker who deserves a higher ranking.
Trent Summerfield (6’2″, SG, Forest Hills Northern)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #131
Summerfield needs to be ranked higher. He’s a top notch 3 point shooter and a solid perimeter defender. Summerfield is a bona fide team leader as well.
Ken Thomas (6’6″, F, Harper Woods High School)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: Unranked
We missed on this kid for sure. He’s an elite rebounder who likes to push the ball off the defensive glass. Thomas is an aggressive offensive player.
Jordan Whitford (6’2″, SG, Detroit King)
Prep Hoops Michigan Ranking: #73
Whitford has been Mr. Clutch this season. He’s been a bucket getter for King and is one of the top players in the PSL. Whitford should rise significantly in the rankings.
