We are working today on the class of 2021 and the position rankings with our group of shooting guards. Here is what you need to know for these top flight prospects.
Overview:
The 2019 class of shooting guards is really strong in this year led at the top by two three high-major guards in Brandon Newman (Purdue), Armaan Franklin (Indiana), and Alex Hemenway (Clemson). Those three have been outstanding in their final year at the high school level.
Overall, this group is very deep at the top and there are already six players committed to DI programs and DII schools will be having a heyday with guys like Wendell DeMyers, Will Penny, Justin Hensley, Drew Comer, Elijah Hales, and Zane Gross among those that could fit at that level.
The best part of this class is that because of the depth, there are a ton of sleepers that have the potential that at the next level, they could be huge performers. We really like guys like Derrick Stevenson, Cory Richards, and Keaton Richardson. Those three guys are under-the-radar but are all very capable scorers that could quickly turn into reliable scorers for college programs.
New Additions:
We have added 16 new prospects to the class of shooting guards in the latest update. There are a number of guys that have jumped into the middle of the rankings with the top guy being Derrick Stevenson form New Albany (IN). He’s a guy that has the size and physical ability to be an impact guy at the next level and is fairly under-the-radar. He’s joined by Creshaun Brown, Wilante Hankston, Zack Johnson, Javen Layne, Tate Balcam, Tucker Hayes, Jackson Erekson, Caleb Welch, Jacob Kenney, Ben Harris, Ty Roudebush, Levi Webb, Mason Bost, Ben Meier, and Payton Hall.
Stock Risers:
As for stock risers in the shooting guard position, we have a good handful that have improved with Will Penny making the biggest jump. The Logansport (IN) wing has been really good this year and looks much more engaged. He’s moved up to #31 overall and 8th at the position. He’s joined by Wendell DeMyers, Max Chaplin, Peyton Meadors, Zane Gross, and Jadon Dance.
