Overview:
In at 2019 class the power for position as one of if not the best we have seen recent memory. Led at the top by Trayce Jackson-Davis, Mason Gillis, and John-Michael Mulloy, you have three guys that will play at high-major schools next season. Overall, we are looking at at least nine players who play at Division I schools just out of the power forward position.
The depth of the group it’s pretty extraordinary and you have all different shapes and sizes of players with different skill sets from a guy like Cobie Barnes that can be a stellar inside out threat to John-Michael Mulloy who is more of a post player. Even in the middle of the group there are standouts that are probably going to have a ton of success at the next level with guys like Nate Childress, Nate Soltis, and Luke Richardson.
Where things separate and why this is the deepest class we have seen is even if you go down the ranks in the 30-40 range, you have guys that have kind of taken off a seniors and are playing at a high-level like Elias Gerodemos, Spencer Sroufe, and Ahmoni Jones.
New Additions:
Looking into the latest additions of the 2019 Power Forward Rankings, there are six new names on the list. Led by Jimmie Washington Jr. of Gary West (IN), a 6’7 wing forward that can do quite a bit with his advanced skill. He is joined by Courtney Radford, Eric Kendrick, Jayden Baylor, A.J. Field, and Drake Gunn. Washington is an impact player for a small school program as he can really shoot the ball and has the ball handling to drive and slash to the rim.
Stock Risers:
One of the biggest risers this time around was Elias Gerodemos. The 6’5 forward from Crown Point (IN) looks bigger, stronger, and more polished this time around. He’s a guy that looks suited to be a really solid shooter and stretch forward type for a small school, moving up 54 spots. Jeff Clayton, Jaylen Jennings, and Ali Ali are the other biggest movers this time.
