2019 Oklahoma Classic Showcase Preview
The Oklahoma Classic Showcase is back for the third straight year with the best field over the history of the event. The showcase will feature four games with all teams ranked in the top ten of their respective classes. All games will be played at Midwest City High School.
3:00PM: Girls PC West #1 (6A) 14-1 vs. Classen SAS #3 (4A) 15-0
4:45PM Carl Albert #6 (5A) 8-6 vs. Northwest Classen #4 (5A) 10-3
6:30PM Kingston #1 (3A) 16-1 vs. PC West #9 (6A) 10-6
8:15PM Midwest City #5 (6A) 11-2 vs. Tulsa Memorial #1 (5A) 12-3
Admission for the day is $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens. Each game will have a player of the game selected by the Prep Hoops team of writers. Prep Hoops will have full coverage from the boy’s side. Prep Hoops Girls Oklahoma will cover the first game of the day.
3:00PM: Girls PC West #1 (6A) 13-1 vs. Classen SAS #3 (4A) 15-0
Although we do not cover girls it should be noted the opening game of the day Putnam City West girls versus Classen SAS features what most believe to be the top two teams in the state of Oklahoma battling it out. It is always great to be able to match up the best against the best regardless of class.
4:45PM Carl Albert #6 (5A) 8-6 vs. Northwest Classen #4 (5A) 10-3
This matchup features two top ten teams in Class 5A that are both headed East for the playoffs. Carl Albert has played a tough schedule with a young bunch following the graduation of Mason Harrell and Trey Hopkins. Northwest Classen is starting to find there groove. With both teams fighting for a Regional, this game could be the deciding factor as to which team gets home court advantage. Players to watch in this game are Da’Lin Wiggins for Northwest Classen and James Locke for the Titans.
6:30PM Kingston #1 (3A) 16-1 vs. PC West #9 (6A) 10-6
After winning a 62-60 thriller on Friday night Kingston enters with an impressive resume in Class 3A. The record of the Patriots is a little deceiving. Putnam City West has played one of the toughest schedules of any team in Oklahoma. The floor is loaded with talent. Jacob Germany 2019 Post (UTSA signee) leads the way for Kingston. Rondel Walker 2020 PC West Point Guard already has multiple high major NCAA Division I offers. The key focus of this game will be how Kingston responds to the pressure of the PC West defense.
8:15PM Midwest City #5 (6A) 11-2 vs. Tulsa Memorial #1 (5A) 12-3
Oklahoma State signee’s Keylan and Kalib Boone headline a stacked Tulsa Memorial squad. Although the Chargers will be the away team they are the favorite in this top-five matchup. Midwest City is dealing with the injury bug this week. JD Ray and Christian Cook will need to bring their best game to the floor against the Chargers. This is a statement game for both programs with the final rankings for playoffs coming up.
