Michael McHenry 2019 Booker T. Washington guard/wing
Michael McHenry, a 6-foot-even perimeter guy for the Hornets, had his best game in a 4-point win in the second round against Kingfisher. The senior knocked down six 3-balls to elevate his Hornets in the important moments of the game, and helped to seal the game away.
Shelby Sampleton 2019 Putnam City West points guard
Shelby Sampleton was the best player off the bench from any team in the Tournament of Champions — and it wasn’t even close. The senior gunslinger knocked down 13 total three-pointers, the most of any player in the tournament, including a six 3-pointer, 10-17 field goal performance in the first round against Fort Cobb-Broxton.
Trentez Scales 2020 Putnam City West point guard
Trentez Scales was straight heat for Putnam City West in the TOC. The 5-foot-8 junior was hitting them off the dribble as well as from the catch to help Putnam City West all weekend.
Trey Phipps 2020 Booker T. Washington point guard
Trey Phipps reminded everybody why he is so highly-regarded as a shooter for the Hornets at the TOC. The junior standout was unbelievable off the dribble, knocking almost all of his long-balls from movement and from college range.
Donte Shanklin 2021 Hugo guard
Donte Shanklin came off the bench and had an absolute day against Fort Cobb-Broxton, scoring 17 points. He went 5-11 from 3-point range in the game to help the Buffaloes overcome an 18-point deficit and retake the lead late in the game, with three more that just barely rimmed out. Despite his green-light shooting, the Buffs would lose to the Mustangs in the closing minutes of the game, but Shanklin’s performance was a high point for Hugo.
Trey Green 2019 Kingfisher wing
Trey Green was phenomenal scorer and shooter at the TOC, including a 5-5 shooting performances from the 3-point line against Kingston in the first round, leveraging the Yellow Jackets to a 6-point win over the Redskins. The senior’s efficiency makes him one of the most dangerous players in 4A basketball.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Booker T. Washington guard
Bryce Thompson dominated the 2018 Tournament of Champions with great off-the-dribble play from mid range and long range. The junior floor general and most valuable player of the TOC shot 48 percent from the field with most of his shots being self-created.
Kellen Hines 2019 Fort Cobb-Boxton point guard
Put the emphasis on “point” guard for Kellen Hines, the leading scorer in the 2018 Tournament of Champions with 31 points a contest. Hines led the Class A juggernaut Mustangs all weekend with the energy he brought to the floor by hitting shots. He did so on 49 percent shooting from the field, hitting deep 3s, and shooting highly-accurate from mid-range.
