MVP: Conner Drew (Ballard)
Drew scored a game high 26 points and was pretty efficient in getting those points. He is a big, strong forward inside who plays effectively both in the post up game and in the face up. Really solid rebounder who is going to get the ball if it comes near him. He had 12 rebounds in the game.
Play of the game: All of the clutch free throws Ballard made in OT
Ballard got to the line a lot in overtime and they kept knocking down their free throws. Time after time they had free throws that they were forced to make. They made the ones that they needed to and it led them to the win.
Best offensive performance: Nathan Mueller (ADM)
Mueller is a thin guard but he can score the ball really well. Hit some big 3-pointers early which pushed the ADM lead out quickly. He has great handles and passes the ball pretty well. Mueller is a kid who mixes up his speeds really well always keeping the defender off balance.
Best defensive performance: Tate Stine-Smith (Ballard)
Stine-Smith was very effective on defense. He rotated with the help well and got his hands in the passing lane. He had two steals in the game and both of those steals led to points on the other end. Played with a big motor on that end of the floor which allowed him to affect the game.
Best guy off the bench: Wesley Evers (ADM)
Evers was a big man off of the bench who was able to come in and shut down the interior game of Ballard. He is a big body that they can throw in there and trust he
Best intangibles: Nate Olsen (Ballard)
Olsen came off the bench and played a huge role. He was thrust into extra playing time tonight and showed a great motor and grit. Made two huge 3-pointers and consistently was in the face of his man. He really came in and provided a spark.
Best under-the-radar performance: Nathan Conrad (ADM)
Conrad was really good in this one as he scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He wasn’t really flashy with the things that he did but was very effective. Grabbed four offensive rebounds in this one and turned those into points for his team.
Best underclassman: Mason Murphy (Ballard)
I have already talked about the two stud sophomore Drew and Mueller so I figure I should mention Murphy. He’s a small guard but very in your face. He is a very good passer and likes to throw the long passes to the basket. A really solid on ball guard who can dictate the offense.
Best shooter: Nathan Mueller (ADM)
Mueller can flat out shoot the ball. He likes to put up those little runners from the wing off of the backboard, but didn’t really hit them at a high level in this one. Hit three 3-pointers early in the game and then kind of got a little cold. Has range once he steps in the gym. One of the top 2021 prospects in the state.
Best rebounder: Dylan Anderson (ADM)
Anderson can use his length to grab a lot of rebounds that other players cannot. Right now, he rebounds because of his height but could get a lot better after adding muscle. Anderson is a thin sophomore post who will get much better after packing on 15-20 pounds of muscle. He had six rebounds in this one.
