What Position Would They Play?????
Texas has some of the best basketball players in the nation but we are very well known as a Football State. I wanted to switch it up a little bit today in this article and share with you some of the top basketball players in the state that would be good football players if they decided to play on the gridiron.
Sahvir Wheeler / 5’8” / PG / Houston Christian
Wheeler is a very speedy point guard that is an Elite passer that loves to create plays for others. If Wheeler were on the gridiron he would be a good Slot, the type of player that you would throw bubble screens to and allow him to use his speed and quickness in the open field.
Football Position: Slot
Strengths: Speed and Quickness
Caleb Lohner / 6’7 / Forward / Flower Mound / 2020
Lohner has a college ready body that can knock down jumpers and also finish above the rim. If the four star prospect converted to football he would be a good Tight End. With his size and athleticism he would be a mismatch nightmare for players on the football field.
Football Position- Tight End
Strengths: Size for Position, Athleticism; Good Hands
De’Vion Harmon / 6’1 / Pg / Denton Guyer / 2019
Harmon is one of the toughest point guards in the nation and does a little bit of everything for his Denton Guyer Wildcats team. If Harmon played football he would be best at Safety due to his athleticism strong build and his defensive awareness which he showcases on the basketball court when he steps into the passing lanes.
Football Position– Strong Safety
Strengths: Athleticism; ability to cover the field, Defensive Prowess
Chris Harris / 6’3 / SG / South Garland / 2019
Harris is a physical 2 guard that can shoot the ball from deep. Harris is also a good rebounder for his position. Chris would be a tough outside linebacker if he played football, especially with his strong frame to go along with his physicality.
Football Position: Outside Linebacker
Strengths: Physicality; Toughness
Greg Brown / 6’8” / Forward / Austin Vandergrift / 2020
Brown is a long athletic explosive forward that is hard to stop from finishing at the rim when he has a full head of steam. The five star should not quit playing basketball because he has a chance to a Lotto pick if he continues to improve in all aspects of his game. However if Greg did play football he would be a really tough Wide Receiver. Greg’s athleticism would help make the quarterback’s job easier especially in the red zone when all you have to do is throw it up and give him an opportunity to catch the 50/50 ball.
Football Position: Wide Receiver
Strengths: Size, Athleticism, Length
