Keyyaun Batchman 6’2″ Chaminade: The tough southpaw has been getting it done at both ends for the Red Devils. A strong on-ball defensive player, Batchman has also been lighting it up on offense as he averages 24.8 points a game while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range. He is also averaging 7.8 rebounds, 7.6 assists and three steals a game.
Isaiah Ervin 6’2″ Hazelwood Central: The smooth shooting guard has been a huge boost for the Hawks’ 5-2 start in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. His ability to get buckets at all three levels has made the transition process easier for a team that starts three sophomores and a a freshman around him. Through seven games, Ervin is averaging 19.3 points, three rebounds and three steals while shooting 47 percent from the field.
A’Tavian Butler 6’2″ McCluer North: The athletic wing player does most of his damage around the basket and within 15 feet. He is a matchup problem because of his explosiveness and ability to handle the the ball. He is one of the top rebounding guards in the state. He is currently averaging 19.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists a game for the Stars, who are 7-0 with victories of Rock Bridge and Francis Howell to win the Troy Tournament.
Joseph Jones 5’10” Webster Groves: The transfer from Georgia has given the Statesmen a big lift as they begin the season with a 6-0 record. Jones is a quick penetrating guard who attacks the basket and will and finishes well at the rim. He is averaging a team high 13.4 points for a well-balanced team. He was voted the MVP of the Webster Classic after leading the Statesmen to the championship with a 73-68 victory over CBC.
Elijah Hicks 6’3″ Jennings: A physical power guard who is averaging 15 points a game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 39 percent from 3-point range in leading the Warriors to a 5-1 record. He scored 23 points in the Warriors victory over Alton at the Rameybasketball Midwest Showdown Shootout. He is a versatile player who can handle the point, facilitate the offense and then go into the post and overpower smaller guards.
Damien Loyd 5’10” Kirkwood: The scoring point guard has been on a scoring rampage to begin the season, averaging 29 3 points a game for the Pioneers. He has excellent quickness and a high basketball IQ with the ability to facilitate. His ability to get to the basket, combined with his 3-point shooting ability has made him very difficult to defend.
