David Layton 5’10” Oak Ridge (’20) – The talented junior guard has been putting up some eye-popping numbers as one of the top scorers in the state of Missouri. Through the first seven games, Layton is averaging nearly 38 points a game while also getting 9.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 5.9 steals. He scored 52 points in a victory over Bell City and scored another 48 points in a big victory over East Prairie. He is a solid perimeter shooter, but he has the ability to score in a variety of ways with drives, mid-range jumpers, transition buckets and free throws.
Jacob Shoemaker 6’0″ Oran (’19) – The senior guard has been one of the most consistent performers in the region since entering the lineup as a freshman four years ago. As a sophomore, he helped lead the Hawks on a magical run to the Class 2 state championship. Since then, he has been putting up the numbers and helping his team rack up the wins.He averaged 22 points a game as a junior and has been dominating this year. He scored a season-high 48 points against Kelly in the semifinals of the Oran Invitational Tournament, which the Hawks eventually won. He scored 39 points in another victory over East Prairie two weeks ago.
Hayden Thomas 6’3″ Twin Rivers (’19): The versatile four-year starter enjoyed a very productive summer in helping the SI Select to the national championship at the AAU 17-and-under tournament in July. It has carried over to a very productive season in which he is averaging 19 points in leading Twin Rivers to a 7-2 record. He is an excellent shooter with very good fundamentals and the ability to create his own shots with good handles and solid ball fakes. Always enjoy watching him play.
Nathan Burnett 5’10” Risco (’19) – A four-year starter at Risco, Burnett has been knocking down 3-pointers throughout his stellar career. Through the first 11 games of his senior season, Burnett is averaging 21 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 43 percent from 3-point range in leading Risco to a 9-2 record and the championship of the Clarkton and Holcomb Tournaments. With Burnett leading the way, the Tigers are looking to win a Class 1 district championship in March.
Blake Fowler 5’10” Campbell (’21): A talented young guard who I first saw play during the summer with the Semo Bulls 15U team and liked his play a lot then. He is a very confident player who can score from distance or take it to the basket. Fowler has topped the 30-point mark on more that a few occasions during the season. He can score and handle the ball and he moves well without the ball to get himself open.
