Atlanta, Georgia – Another loaded event in the state of Georgia hosted by Game Elite, an adidas sponsored program out of the Atlanta area. With all of the national holiday showcases going on, the Tournament of Champions Classic is a fabolous tournament to take a look at with all the talent that is set to be put on display over a span of three days. The tournament this year is in it’s third season and will run from December 27-29th at Wheeler High School. Teams set to participate in this seasons tournament will be Meadowcreek, Wheeler, Grayson, St. Francis, Bishop Snyder (FL), Lakewood (SC), Shiloh, Southwest Dekalb, John Marshall (VA), and others.
The tournament is always split into two different divisions in four different brackets. You have the national division that is split up with two brackets, the “peach” and “apple” brackets. The peach bracket features Grayson, North Atlanta, Johnson-Savannah, John Marshall (VA), The Heritage School, Lithonia, Meadowcreek, and Lakewood (SC). The apple bracket features Wheeler, Langston Hughes, Southwest Dekalb, Bishop Snyder (FL), St. Francis, Blanche Ely (FL), Greater Atlanta Christian, and Newton. This division is certainly loaded with a lot of talent.
The first round matchups in the peach bracket are Grayson/North Atlanta, Johnson-Savannah/John Marshall (VA), The Heritage Schoo/Lithonia, and Meadowcreek/Lakewood (SC). The first round matchups in the apple bracket include Wheeler/Langston Hughes, Southwest Dekalb/Bishop Snyder (FL), St. Francis/Blanche Ely (FL), and Greater Atlanta Christian/Newton. All games for the national division will be played in Wildcat Arena, which is the main gym. Prospects like Xavier commit 2020 PG Dwon Odom (St. Francis), 2020 W Corey Walker (Bishop Snyder, FL), 2020 PG KD Johnson (Southwest Dekalb), UAB signee 2019 PG Jalen Benjamin (Meadowcreek), 2020 C Ebenezer Dowouona (The Heritage School), Cal signee 2019 SG Charles Smith IV (Wheeler), 2020 PG Eric Graines (Lithonia), and plenty others are expected to put on a show.
As for the american division, which split into the “red” and “blue” brackets, most of the under the radar prospects and sleepers will be playing in this division for sure. The red bracket features Shiloh, North Gwinnett, Tri Cities, Holy Innocents, Pace Academy, Miller Grove, Trinity Christian, and Berkmar. The blue bracket features Greenforest Christian, Cedar Shoals, Heritage-Conyers, Wilkinson County, Chapel Hill, Chattahoochee, Sprayberry, and Aquinas. The first round matchups in the red bracket are Shiloh/North Gwinnett, Tri Cities/Holy Innocents, Pace Academy/Miller Grove, and Trinity Christian/Berkmar. For the blue bracket, first round matchups will be Greenforest Christian/Cedar Shoals, Heritage (Conyers)/Wilkinson County, Chapel Hill/Chattahoochee, and Sprayberry/Aquanis. All games for the american division will be played in Lipscomb Gymnasium, which is the old gym. Prospects like 2021 F Cole Middleton (Pace Academy), 2020 SG Brady Burnett (Trinity Christian), 2020 SG Toneari Lane (Shiloh), 2019 W DJ Patrick (Sprayberry), 2021 SG Chance Moore (Holy Innocents), 2021 SG Garrison Powell (Holy Innocents), 2020 PG Tyler Johnson (Ceder Shoals), 2021 PG Peyton Daniels (Tri Cities), and others will be putting their talents on display.
