The theme of each game on the second day was who out-rebounded who. Other than scoring, rebounding was the biggest indicator of who won the game. On the second day of the Edmond Open, these were the most talented rebounders:
Jacob Thionnet Edmond Memorial W/F
Thionnet was a dominant force for the Bulldogs in the paint. He pulled down boards on the defensive end to get things going for the Bulldogs. Offensively, Thionnet can jump out of the gym to get put-backs for the Bulldogs, allowing his shooters to fall into a good rhythm.
Sam Floyd OKC Knights C
Freshman standout Sam Floyd recorded a double-double in rebounds and points against Norman on the second day. Floyd has sneaky athleticism to him and is able to find his way under the rim and back out opposing players.
Kaleb Biglow, Muskogee C
Biglow has the size to impose his will even on other bigs handedly. He’s strong and releases a lot of kinetic energy when he backs guys out. He pulled down an abundance of rebounds against Capitol Hill on Friday afternoon with his strength.
Wendell Johnson, Muskogee C
Like his teammate, he’s a sizable and an extremely explosive athlete who can get his body on guys and out-strength them.
Colby Onyekuru Santa Fe W
Onyekuru’s impact on the game comes from his athleticism and relentless pursuit of rebounds. He finds his way into the lane and can flat-out dominate the board game at times with the tenacity he brings onto the floor.
D’Shanti Fancher Capitol Hill F
Fancher has the size and athleticism to get what he wants in the rebounding game. He pulls down a lot each game through four quarters. He is explosive and dominant as an athlete.
