With one of the best TOC fields in recent years, there were plenty of players who warranted praise. As an addition to our subsequent All-Tournament team, this is our Prep Hoops Oklahoma Second and Third team, selected from the top juniors and seniors from the 2018 TOC.
SECOND TEAM
Sr. Shelby Sampleton — Putnam City West
19 PPG
Despite coming off the bench in all three games, Shelby Sampleton put on a show in the TOC last weekend, including a 32-point, 59 percent shooting performance in the first round.
Jr. Rondel Walker — Putnam City West
10.3 PPG / 6.3 RPG / 4.6 APG
Rondel Walker was one of the best floor generals at the TOC, leading the Patriots to a fourth-place finish with scoring, rebounding, passing and defense. His all-around play even while being heavily-guarded was beyond impressive.
Jr. Trey Phipps — Booker T. Washington
13 PPG / 4.6 RPG
Trey Phipps helped to lead the championship-winning Booker T. Washington offense and lend the Hornets a solid perimeter scoring option off the dribble
Sr. RJ Weeks — Kingston
18.3 PPG / 4 APG
RJ Weeks led the way for Kingston in scoring, driving into the lane with explosiveness and athleticism for the Redskins. A Redskins golfer, Weeks set aside sinking putts for the weekend to instead sink deep balls and even a few dunks.
Sr. Houston Greggs — Hugo
12 PPG / 8.6 RPG
Hugo’s Houston Greggs was a player who established a name for himself at the TOC with dominant, physical inside play as the senior finished just a few rebounds shy of averaging a double-double.
THIRD TEAM
Sr. Conner Brister — Kingston
13 PPG
Conner Brister was an outstanding defensive presence for the Redskins and was a pivotal scoring option as a spot-up or pull-up shooter.
Sr. Michael McHenry — Booker T. Washington
11 PPG
Points guard Michael McHenry was vital on both sides of the ball for the Hornets. His big day came in the second round against Kingfisher, where he netted six 3’s en route to a 4-point win to keep BTW’s hopes alive.
Sr. Ethan Adams — Whitesboro
9.6 PPG
Ethan Adams played gritty, physical and unselfish basketball as the clear-cut leader for the Whitesboro Bulldogs.
Sr. Seth Hurd — Booker T. WashingtonÂ
9.6 PPG / 6.6 RPG
Seth Hurd fought in the paint and played stout, scrappy defense against opposing forwards and centers, keeping scorers at bay and helping the Hornets to the Championship.
Sr. Jett Sternberger — KingfisherÂ
9.3 PPG
The dual-sport athlete didn’t toss any heat for six at the TOC, but he sent plenty of 3-balls, including an off-the-dribble, contested pull up in the closing seconds against Booker T. Washington to put the Yellow Jackets down by one.
