Titans Take Care of Business Against Garretson
It may be a tad bit early in the season, but the Titans of Tea Area have a ton of confidence in themselves.
So much that they looked like they were going through the motions last night in their game against Garretson. Tea Area’s head coach Chris Fechner also noticed that and subbed in a whole new five to send a message to end the third quarter and kept them on the bench to start the fourth as well.
With Madison losing the Janke brothers and Aaron Fiegen and Sioux Falls Christian losing their talented seniors, the Titans look to dominate Class A this season.

The Titans got out to a quick start and didn’t look back on Thursday night in Tea. They never trailed for one second throughout the night and had at one time a 26-point lead over the Blue Dragons.
Noah Freidel and Justin Hohn (26 points) combined to outscore the Blue Dragons at the halftime break (21).
That was pretty much the story the whole first half and the Titans looked to be in command. They had a 45-21 lead going into the second half but struggled coming out of halftime which led coach Fechner to sub out everyone on the court for a whole new five that finished out the third quarter and started the fourth quarter.
That was the only quarter that the Blue Dragons outscored the Titans.
Fechner has 8 points off the bench for the Titans.
Fiegen has 12 for 🔵🐲 https://t.co/pCpKz7SjqB— Caleb Christensen (@kcchris01) December 21, 2018
When the starters came back in for the Tea Area, the slim chances for the Blue Dragons faded away with about 3:50 left when the Titans pulled away up 24 to win 78-52.
TURNING POINT: The Titans had a big first quarter and let off the pedal some in the second quarter but only gave up seven points during that quarter which helped them have a 24-point lead at halftime.
KEY PLAY(S): While there isn’t really one play that defines a big win like this one. I’d say the plays that Tea Area made in the opening minutes of the game were key to opening up a big lead early.
BY THE NUMBERS: Tea Area shot 48 percent in the first half (43 percent overall) from the field compared to Garretson’s 27 percent (31 percent overall). Both teams shot horribly from deep with Tea only connecting on 5-of-24 attempts. Garretson connected on 4-of-19. The Titans forced 17 turnovers and 12 steals.
STAT(S) OF THE GAME: Hohn (12 assists) had three times as many assists as the whole Garretson team combined (4).
TEAM LEADERS: Freidel filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Hohn had 14 points, 12 assists and 6 steals. Kaleb Joffer had 10 points and 8 boards. While Colby Fechner had eight points off the bench.
For Garretson, Drew Blosmo had 18 points and Trevor Fiegen recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards.
LOOKING AHEAD: Tea Area hosts Vermillion after Christmas on the 28th at 6:30 p.m. Garretson plays Lake Preston on the 29th at 2 p.m. in Brookings.
