Brock Bangasser of HLWW. The 6-foot-7 senior post has some of the best footwork in the western part of the state and he’s also one of the better shot blockers out that way. Brock scores 13 a game and grabbed eight boards a game for the Lakers a season ago.
Drey Dirksen of Willmar. With massive numbers Noah Slagter received a lot of the attention last year when Willmar went 26-3 and rightfully so. But, there were games where the 6-foot-4 Dirksen was the best player on the team because of the numerous things he does. Drey has led the Cards in rebounding the last two seasons (grabbed a dozen a game in 17-18) plus he scored 14 a contest as a junior.
Lucas Dose of Sibley East. When you play with Gavin Bates and Austin Weckwerth there are only so many shots you are going to get so as a sophomore Lucas grabbed over ten boards a game and was one of the team’s best passers dishing out 4-5 assists a game. Lucas used his toughness and solid mid-range jumper to score 9-10 a game.
Sam Fisher of Henning. Sam isn’t tall but his athletic ability makes up for. You know any 5-foot-9 guy that does the jump ball? I do and his name is Sam Fisher! Sam put up 15 points and six assists a game last year and is now looking at being a top PG in Class with a Henning team that could fight into the top ten.
Alex Gruenke of Litchfield. It’s been a bit of a change at Litchfield since legendary coach John Carlson stepped down but these Dragons are about to awake like Smaug in Erebor. Owen Boerema is an all state level player and next to him is 6-foot-1 guard Alex Gruenke. Alex is one of the quicker players with the ball in his hands in Class AA hoops. Scored a dozen a game as a junior.
Colton Roderick of Alexandria. People are familiar with Treyton Thompson and Trey Hoepner, a name you can add to that list is Colton Roderick, a 6-foot-4 guard that opened his high school basketball career last week scoring 19 points in a one point loss to Moorhead. Roderick teamed with Treyton Thompson for 19 points each and both are underclassmen.
Cole Sandven of Montevideo. The Thunder Hawks were down last year but they will never stay down for long. A new standout has emerged and that is 6-foot-2 junior shooting guard Cole Sandven. Cole scored 14 points a game last season with six rebounds stretching the defense with his perimeter touch. Hard nosed kid.
Tyler Scheevel of Lester Prairie. We need a top defender on this list so we give you Tyler, one of the best Class A defenders out there with elite lateral quickness and a tough physique that nobody wants to deal with. And hey, Tyler was one of the top RB/LB in Class A football and he’s a state rodeo champ!
