The Top 25 – Minnesota’s Elite
Who are the best 25 teams in the state of Minnesota regardless of class? NHR ranks Minnesota’s Elite, the best 25 teams overall.
The candidates for the top spot. Obviously there can only be three: East Ridge, DeLaSalle, and Minnehaha Academy, the number one ranked teams in Class AAAA, Class AAA, and Class AA respectively.
Why Minnehaha Academy getting the nod for the top spot? For starters they are the only defending champ that is ranked number one right now. Also, the last time Minnehaha Academy and East Ridge played, the Redhawks earned the victory. Those are the two key factors in Minnehaha being number one (well, in addition to the talent on the roster).
Number two? I went with East Ridge over DeLaSalle based on their overall size. Both teams are deeply talented but I think the Raptors have a big more talent as well. Lakeville North is also bigger and a bit deeper than the Islanders which is why I gave them three, and have DeLaSalle at four (Islanders beat Wayzata late last year so I gave them the nod over the Trojans for that spot).
