Jamison Battle of DeLaSalle. “But Jamison plays with Gabe”, “But Jamison plays with Tyrell”, “But Jamison plays with (name a D1 Minnesota guy). Well, Saturday he was the go to guy and Battle scored 40! Against Wayzata! Jamison Battle the go-to-guy looked awesome.
Jalen Suggs of Minnehaha Academy. The 5-star guard was a highlight reel of productivity scoring 33 points in a late night win over Champlin Park. Suggs is a playmaker of course, but he’s the type of playmaker that does it from so many different spots on the floor and that is what makes him special.
Dawson Garcia of Prior Lake. Dawson went head to head with Ben Carlson in a long anticipated match-up and Garcia scored 25 and played a big part in limiting Carlson to one score. A game we won’t soon forget when it comes to how talented Garcia is.
Cameron Steele of Minnetonka. The Tonka Skippers had been left for dead by most after transfers slimmed their roster Cameron Steele went for 43 and 19 while his team crushed Mayo.
Jack Thompson of St. Thomas Academy. Thompson scored 37 while helping a pair of D2 signed Cooper guards to a combined 18 points.
Matthew Hurt of Rochester JM. How good is Matthew Hurt? He can score 42 points in a game against a very good CDH team and the people watching don’t really talk much about it. That’s a special kind of special.
Steven Crowl of Eastview. Early season all state team? If there was such a think Crowl might be on that list of five. His team is undefeated and he put up 30 beating Minneapolis North.
Antwan Kimmons of Tartan. Kimmons has been seen in just about every role (defender, table setter, wing supporter) but now he showed the state that he can be the explosive score too putting up 45 vs Edina.
Jack Middleton of Edina. Middleton not only put a 34 in the books but also made sure that the Hornets were a balanced attack that beat the Titans by three scores.
Amari Carter of Cretin-Derham Hall. Sometimes when a team gets an influx of new players, the returning guys can get overlooked. Junior Amari Carter made sure everyone remembers him with a strong 23 in a win over JM.
Detavius Frierson of Park Center. The strong, explosive 6-foot-4 junior forward from the Pirates scored 16 and helped his team knock off Eden Prairie.
Eric Krieger of Totino-Grace. A breakout performance by the 6-foot-2 guard who scored 23 points in a 20 plus point win over Brooklyn Center.
