The Holiday Classic: Top Shooters
The Holiday Classic was hosted by Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California. There were a lot of very talented teams in attendance. Here are the top shooters from the tournament:
Cory Gohl (Rocklin 2019):
The entire Rocklin team is very fundamentally sound and hats off to that coach for getting his players to buy into their system. While the ability to drift to open spots is not a super attractive skill, it is highly effective. Gohl is really good at picking his spots and knocking down open and contented three’s.
Luc Rosenblatt (Salpointe 2019):
Everyone in Arizona knows how great of a shooter this kid is. He lives in the corners and often knocks down those corner three’s. That shot is definitely his favorite shot on the court. He is a very nice third option on that Salpointe team as Deng and Nelson are driving threats.
John Hapgood (La Jolla 2022):
This kid may have one of the quickest shots I have ever seen. He also has a very quick trigger to pair with his quick release. He pulled from deep early and often. I was very impressed by him and became even more impressed when I found out that he is a freshman. Very impressive overall and he is someone to keep an eye on going forward.
John Christofilis (O’Dea 2021):
John is the only kid who makes this list not due to his three point shot. Don’t get me wrong, he is an excellent three point shooter but the heart of his game lies in the mid-range. He has a very unorthodox shooting form but he hits it consistently. He has very good body control and often shooting from awkward angles, trying to draw in a foul or getting around taller defenders.
