The Holiday Classic: Mountain Pointe Recap
This week was the The Holiday Classic, hosted by Torrey Pines High School. There were many teams that entered the tournament, with a ton of talented young players. I decided to take the trip out to San Diego and cover 4 of the AZ teams that entered the tournament. Those teams include: Shadow Mountain. Cienega, Mountain Pointe, and Salpointe. Here is the recap for Mountain Pointe:
Day 1: Mountain Pointe started the tournament off by playing one of the top teams in the entire tournament, O’Dea HS. O’Dea has some serious talent, which led them to the victory. Mountain Pointe loses 74-57.
Day 2: Mountain Pointe bounces back at wins 67-63, against J’Serra.
Day 3: Mountain Pointe continues their winning ways by beating Capital Christian 67-55.
Day 4: Mountain Pointe ends the tournament with a loss against Orange Lutheran, 63-54.
Overall, Mountain Pointe looked very good this tournament. They haven’t lived up to my expectations for them this far in the season but if they play as hard as they did this tournament, they should have no problem turning their season around and competing for the 6A State Championship.
