State Championship Contenders 6A
What a season it has been thus far! As teams are gearing up for their holiday tournaments, it is pretty safe to say that we are officially mid-way in the season. Since we are about halfway through the season, I thought it would be appropriate to look at the potential state championship contenders. Please be advised that these are my own opinions, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Here are the state championship contenders for 6A:
1. Pinnacle (Current AZ Preps Rank: 1)
Pinnacle is the team to beat, they are the favorites. They have also proved to be human by losing two games, one of which was to Mountain Pointe. Nico Mannion is just too good to let his team lose the state championship, even without Jordan Mains. Pinnacle still has the super consistent Trent Brown and Tosh Baker has been playing extremely well.
2. Mountain Pointe (Current AZ Preps Rank: 7)
Mountain Pointe will bounce back this second half of the season. I fully expect them to fix things and get back to their winning ways and challenge Pinnacle for the 6A State Championship. Their team is just loaded with talent, Khalid Price, Jalen Graham, and DeAndre Henry.
3. Chaparral (Current AZ Preps Rank: 2)
Chapparal has been playing some great basketball and I do not expect them to stop anytime soon. They look like a very deep team, having 4 players averaging double figures (Alem Huseinovic 16.7 ppg, Blaise Threatt 10.8 ppg, Alec Bryan 14.1 ppg, and Jordan Joseph 11.5 ppg). They also have a ton of size that any team would desire. 11 players over 6ft and of those 11, 8 of them are 6’3 and above.
