Unfortunately, and I apologize to Bishop Sullivan and Trinity Episcopal, traffic and work kept me from getting to the first game but I was able to catch the last three games. Check out some of the guys that had the best showing throughout the day.
Josh Campbell | 6’3” WG | Carmel School 2020
Campbell did a little bit of everything for Carmel School in their bounce back win against local public school TC Williams. He not only led the team in scoring and assists, but he also rebounded extremely well and played with great energy and leadership. He was aggressive on both ends and shot the ball above average. He was always around the ball and finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds and six assists.
Izeah Alexander | 6’3” F | Carmel School 2019
Alexander may not be super tall but he’s a beast in the middle and he’s a skilled guy who can create a shot. That makes him a very productive guy in the paint because he moves much better than you expect when you look at him. He used his size around the basket to clear out space and he’s a guy who will create mismatches and rebound because he is so big. He finished with 13 points and a whopping 19 rebounds on the game.
JaQuan Johnson | 6’2” G | TC Williams 2019
The Titans got down early against Carmel School, but they battled back to make it competitive all the way through and almost won the game. They struggled against the zone early, but once they got to making shots it became a game and it started with Johnson. He finished with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, and he hit seven three-pointers on the game. He was confident off the catch and the dribble and he can make plays for himself and others off the bounce too.
Darius Johnson | 6’0” PG | Episcopal HS 2021
Johnson had the best individual performance of the day as he dominated in a number of ways in Episcopal’s blowout win of Maret, including a game high 35 points. At maybe 6’0”, he has a strong build and showed the whole arsenal as a scorer. Off the catch or the bounce he has range out to about 25 feet, he has a tight handle and good speed in isolation situations and he’s a tough and crafty finisher in traffic. He had a double-double too with 11 rebounds and he had 11 rebounds with shooting splits of 68/57/100.
Xavier Johnson | 6’1” PG | Episcopal HS 2019
While little brother had a big night, the George Mason commit did plenty of his own to be mentioned as a standout. An old school lead guard who exudes toughness and leadership, he sets the tone on both ends of the floor and is a tough nosed dual threat guard. He has great isolation ability as he can make tough shots off the bounce, and he has three level scoring ability as he’s a strong finisher among the trees. He finished with a respectable 18 points of his own.
Tymu Chenery | 6’6” WF | Episcopal HS 2020
There were some things I liked a lot about Chenery, and sometimes you saw he still needs some work. He has great length, but needs to fill out. He made some tough shots, but needs to be more consistent. However, he has a ceiling because of how smooth and athletic he is and that he can be a versatile defender moving forward. He played really well from the midrange and when attacking the glass, and he finished with 18 points and five rebounds on 7-for-14 shooting.
EJ Jarvis | 6’8” PF | Maret 2019
Jarvis will have a chance to be very good at Yale over the next four years because of his activity in the post and his ability to keep plays alive. He isn’t the most athletic guy but he drives well out the triple threat, moves well in the post and stays around the basket on misses to get second chance opportunities. He finished with an impressive 25 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks after scoring 33 points last night. Production!
Alex Williams | 6’6′ WF | Maret 2021
Williams was really good according to Adam and everyone yesterday, and while he wasn’t as good as he was on day one he showed signs that he’ll be a very intriguing prospect moving forward. He’s extremely long on the wing and highly skilled, showing the ability to create and make tough shots. With his length that makes him a deadly weapon as a guy who can shoot the ball from deep and shoot over defenders. He finished with 16 points on the game.
Charles Thompson | 6’8” PF | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes 2019
The Saints weren’t really tested in their matchup against a young and inexperienced Benedictine group, but Thompson was dominant early in the game as he set the tone that they were going to dominate in every way. The Towson commit had multiple big dunks and blocks, showing his improved mobility running the floor and finishing in the paint. The Episcopal-SSSAS matchup should be a good one and Thompson will be key if the Saints will be able to come away with the championship.
