But the Southridge High School senior is back in action now, better than ever and ready to help the Skyhawks make another run at the Metro League title.
Galvin is hopeful that the wins also lead to an increase with his college recruitment. He notes that he’s currently hearing the most from Lewis & Clark and Whitman. “They’ve been pretty interested,” Galvin said. “I haven’t visited anybody yet, so I’m probably going to make some time after the season or if we have a weekend off. I’m just going to wait and see what happens with the season – I want to focus on that right now.”
Another school that has been in contact has been Portland State. Zach’s father Phil is good friends with Vikings head coach Barret Peery and there’s been some discussion about coming into the program as a walk-on. “That’s something I’ve been talking to my dad about a lot and it’s definitely something I think I could do,” Galvin said. “I caught their first game at their new stadium and it seems like a program I can definitely play for. Coach Peery is a great coach and I think that would be a great opportunity for me.”
Galvin is keeping all of his options open at this point though and is expecting big things out of the Skyhawks this season – who have started things off with a 3-0 record. “We’ve got a great group of guys and we’re looking to go back-to-back for Metro (League),” Galvin said. “I think it’s going to be fun. Individual goals – personally I’d like Brock (Henry) or I to win Metro player of the year, but winning Metro – that’s something I’ve wanted ever since we won the last one.”
Galvin currently ranks as the #19 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2019 rankings.
