But given how the all-around 6-foot-2, 165-pound guard has played and helped the Quakers perform this season, things might be changing. Pomeroy notched a career-high of 32 points at Franklin’s home tournament recently and he may just be starting to create a buzz.
In the second game of the Franklin Tournament, Pomeroy was absolutely dominant. He scored 32 points and did so in a variety of ways, from long-range, floaters off the dribble, and finishes at the basket. Pomeroy scored his points in an extremely efficient manner and didn’t force the action, but instead took what the defense gave him. He also grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in posting his second double-double of the season – but most importantly, the Quakers got past Mountainside, 66-51.
“It was a team effort, we all moved the ball,” Pomeroy said. “We had a really good week of practice and it showed on the court. I was looking for my teammates and I trust them with the ball.”
Posting those sorts of numbers you’d think that Pomeroy would be getting attention from college coaches. “I saw that George Fox was at our game versus Lakeridge and I had gotten a text from the head coach, Maco (Hamilton), at the beginning of the year,” Pomeroy said. “But other than that it’s been kinda quiet.”
Things may be changing in that regard. Since his big game, Lewis & Clark has gotten in touch and other schools have gotten wind of his performance. Pomeroy’s most recent game was a 23-point performance against Century and he’s got this week off before he and his Franklin teammates head into conference play.
“Last year we had a total of 2 wins last season and we’ve already doubled that,” Pomeroy said. “I think people are sleeping on us and I think we have a chance to finish in the top 4 in the PIL.”
Pomeroy currently ranks as the #52 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2019 rankings.
