Norton has always been a shooter but he’s improved on expanding his offensive repertoire with the hopes of a big season not just for himself but for the Falcons as well.
“The summer went really good – our team really grew together and we had a really good time,” Norton said. “My scoring definitely went up and I got more comfortable. With La Salle I have much more responsibility with scoring. I averaged about 18 points last year and hopefully I’ll average a little more this year. So I’ve been doing a lot more than just shooting threes.
In addition to playing with Nike Team Northwest, Norton also took some time to attend camp at Point Loma Nazarene and Cal State San Marcos. “Both were really good experiences,” Norton said. “Both have really good coaching staffs and they were a lot of fun and very beneficial.”
Norton has maintained contact with both of those schools via text message and he’s also been communicating with George Fox, Whitman, and Clark College. A good student with a 3.0 GPA and 1390 SAT score, he’s keeping his options open and seeing where this season can take him.
While the Falcons lost their season opener to Churchill, he remains excited about what’s ahead. “We’re really optimistic,” Norton said. “We’re planning on going to Gill (Coliseum) for state and winning games there – we want to go all the way, that’s our goal. I hope to re-win my (league) player of the year and I’m hoping for First Team All-State and competing for Player of the Year. I have high hopes.”
Norton currently ranks as the #38 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2019 rankings.
