Continue ReadingQuincy Allen, a class of 2021 wing from Maret, has played well for the 6-1 frogs this season. We suspect that some of this is due to the physical maturation Allen has undergone in the last 6-8 months. He is growing into his body and currently stands a legitimate 6-foot-6, but also has a great feel for the game.
“I grew up being a point guard,” Allen stated. “That’s what I played on my middle school team. I’ve always had good vision and have been able to see what’s in front of me.”
Allen says he worked hard in the weight room to improve his strength and athleticism. He’s become a more consistent shooter, but is also able to guard strong wings on the perimeter. We saw Allen hold his own when matched up against Henry Coleman earlier this season.
“I just think coach gave me the green light to strap him up, and I did my thing out there,” he said. “I think my defense is an underrated strength. It’s improved a lot since last year.”
Howard became the first school to offer Allen in the spring. GW, Rhode Island and most recently Oklahoma State are expressing interest. What are his current goals?
“To make All-Met. Win the DC State Championship, MAC championship. Also to just go out there compete every night and have fun.
