He stood out with his ability to defend and rebound, but also step out and knock down jump shots from the perimeter. Castellanos spoke with Prep Hoops about his overall game and recruitment during a recent interview.
PH: How would you evaluate your team’s performance vs. Carmel School on a scale of 1-10?
EC: “I’d say 6 out of 10. We had too many turnovers, and we could’ve capitalized more on the defensive end with our energy, but we came out with the W.”
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
EC: I love the mid range shot. I can step out and hit the three sometimes. I love to get my teammates involved too. When I’m able to draw attention from the defense, it opens up lanes for me to find my guys.”
PH: How are your grades?
EC: “Really good right now. I’m at a 3.3 or 3.4 right now.”
PH: What are the most improved parts of your overall game?
EC: “My vision, my defense, and my shot.”
PH: What is the most underrated part of your overall game?
EC: “My passing.”
PH: What is something that are you working on right now?
EC: “My ball-handling, my shot selection, and how to communicate better with my teammates; being a better leader.”
PH: What are your personal goals?
EC: “To pick up some more division one offers and be all state.”
PH: Which schools do you currently have offers from?
EC: “Canisius and Drake University.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
EC: “A leader.”
