We were able to catch up with him after a big win against Eleanor Roosevelt on Thursday night. Earl and his teammates were up 20 at halftime but found themselves only up by 4 late in the 2nd half but the defending WCAC champions pulled it together and walked away with a win in a hostile environment.
“I mean they made some shots, we just had to work together and stay focused and keep on following our game plan and listening to what Coach Jones is going to say.”
Earl likes to describe himself as a positionless player which some college programs see him as too.
“Basically, I like to think of myself as a positionless player because I can really do anything. I can score, rebound, pass and guard on defense.”
Earl made an AAU change this past summer and he talked about that with us, “It was good, I made an AAU change and played with Team Loaded, we lost a couple of players but overall it was a good summer.”
On the recruitment side of things Timberlake says, “It has been a blessing to be recruited my top notch colleges in the country.”
Timberlake has taken one of his official visits already to Providence, “I took my first official visit to Providence, it was love, they keep saying that I am a priority for them and they just want to keep building relationships with me. Coach Cooley is a real cool guy and I like what he is doing with the program.”
He has also visited Pittsburgh and likes the rebuilding process the staff has started there, “They say they like my toughness, I like how they are playing their freshman, Xavier Johnson and Trey McGowens.
Another coach that calls Earl a positionless player is Frank Martin of South Carolina.
“Frank Martin says he really likes my energy on the defensive end and said that I can be a positionless player for them too. I want to visit there soon.”
Oklahoma State is comparing him to some of the best defenders in the NBA.
“Same thing kinda, Coach Boynton compares me to Tony Allen and Justice Winslow so that’s cool and they said they want to give me an official visit as well.”
Seton Hall has been keeping close tabs on him as well, “I watched them when they beat Kentucky the other day and that was a big win for them, they like my game and that I would be fit a perfect fit for them so.”
