So far, so good as the 6’3″ Busateri has the Timberwolves off to a good start with a 3-1 record and the championship of the Bank of Old Monroe Tournament last weekend. Busateri led Timberland to a 57-52 victory over an excellent Christian-O’Fallon team in the championship game.
“My goal is to generate a lot of energy with the club this year,” he said. “I want everybody to be involved and to have fun. I also want us to have a chance to go further in the postseason this year.”
Busateri has been the stat-sheet stuffer during the first four games of the season as he averages 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals a game. He put together a complete game in the Wolves semifinals victory over Fort Zumwalt East when he had 16 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, four steals and three blocks. He has a versatile skill set which enables him to be effective at any spot on the court. After averaging 10 points and five rebounds as a junior, he has grown into the team’s main offensive weapon and a leader as well.
“I’ve been able to shoot the ball much better and I’ve also increased my vertical,” he said. “I’ve really worked hard to generate some chemistry within our team.”
Busateri spent his final summer of grassroots competition playing for the Missouri Impact 17U team, in which he was one of team’s leading scorers.
“I was able to get out and compete against a lot of top players and it made me better,” he said. “I’ve really improved my overall game.”
