Prospect Spotlight: Madison Durr (2021)
Pace Academy’s 6-foot-4 guard Madison Durr is just a sophomore, but his approach to the game is wise beyond his years.
It’s the team-first mentality he demonstrates, that has been a highlight of his young career.
“I’m very good at getting to the past and I’m very unselfish. I can defend, and just do whatever it takes to win. If I need to rebound, I’ll rebound, or take charges, just whatever it takes to win,” said Durr.
“I’m working on my 3-point shooting and getting more consistent. Ball-handling, I’m working on that, and also using my length to my advantage on defense.”
That length he refers to is a his 6-foot-8 wingspan. It was on full display last spring and summer with Atlanta Xpress 15U.
“I was a scorer on that team, I scored the ball really well. This year, I’m probably staying with Xpress, we should be a lot better.”
With Pace Academy, Durr prides himself on being a versatile threat, and says, although young, the Knights can be among the best teams in the state.
“We’re a young team, just one senior. I’m able to play the one through the four for my team,” said Durr. “We defend really well, we just need to work on turnovers and making free-throws. I think we’re a state contender.”
At the conclusion of his sophomore year, Durr will head into his 16U offseason, where recruitment could pick up considerably. So far, it’s been Tulane that has shown interest, “It hasn’t really ramped-up quite yet,” said Durr, who broke down his recruitment goals.
“I want to have a lot more high-major interest, if not offers. I plan on working on my strength and just playing well into the summer, and have that carry into my junior year. Then be prepared to commit early senior year.”
