Prospect Spotlight: Ian Schieffelin
Throughout his young hoops career, Grayson’s Ian Schieffelin has worked to hone his craft as a dominant big-man, now, his game is expanding.
In the past year Schieffelin has been working on his ball-handling, jumper and perimeter skill-set. The goal is to become one of the more versatile threats in Georgia.
“When I’m on the court I feel like I’m one of the most physical players out there, and that’s where I feel like I have an edge. And I’ve played inside, but I’m working on expanding my game and shooting 3s, and getting more on the outside,” said Schieffelin
With Stackhouse Elite 15U this past spring and summer, Schieffelin was working to develop as a combo-forward, “The coaching there is A1, and they’ve really helped me to get better and work on skills I never really worked on, like dribbling and shooting,” said Schieffelin.
“I see myself being able to play the wing, I’m a very good shooter when I get the chance. And once I learn how to dribble better it’ll be good, because I can already see the floor well.”
Schieffelin’s Grayson squad is off to a 10-2 start this season, his role has expanded greatly as a sophomore starter.
“It’s been going well, I’m not taking many shots, but we have a point guard Deivon Smith who’s a really good passer, and he helps me get some good shots,” said Schieffelin.
When his sophomore season is done, he’ll be back at it with Stackhouse Elite for his 16U spring and summer. That’s when things could start to materialize recruitment-wise for the up-and-coming forward.
“My ultimate goal is to get to college and hopefully do D1,” said Schieffelin. “I could see myself being a primary player on a team one day.”
