Prospect Spotlight: Faust Ystueta (2019)
A top prospect in Idaho’s Class of 2019, Twin Falls guard Faust Ystueta is still very-much available. And he’s hoping that as his senior season continues to unfold, he’ll see his recruitment continue to trend up.
“Recruitment has been slower than expected, but I have been in contact with JuCos, D3s and D2s from around the area,” said Ystueta. “I hope to go to a four-year school right out of high school, but the JuCo route is really appealing as well.”
A guard who excels at getting buckets, Ystueta has the size and ability to post big numbers for Twin Falls.
“I’m a scoring point guard for sure, I can get to the rim easily because of my size, and also shoot the ball from the outside effectively,” said Ystueta.
“I’d definitely want to improve my quickness and athleticism to get ready for college, the game’s going to be way faster at that level.”
The season’s still young, but Ystueta and his Bruins have started off red-hot. He’s averaging 13 points and five assists through six games.
“The season’s been good so far, we are 6-0 and one of the best teams in our classification, we have a plethora of talent on our team, Mitchell Brizee, Ryan Ball, and Winston Duggan and I are all really talented, so scoring between all of us stays balanced,” said Ystueta.
The goal for this season is to keep racking up wins, and hopefully get to the state tournament in Boise. After that, it’ll be to find a college program where Ystueta can continue to excel on the hardwood.
“My goals for next year are to play at the level that best suits me,” said Ystueta. “Whether it’s a NAIA, Juco, D2, D3 whatever, I just want the best fit for me.”
