Hemphill is a two-sport star for Asheville School after spending this past season at East Henderson HS. He is a 6-foot-5 wing that can jump out of the building and is a streaky shooter. I saw him last at Mars Hill Elite Camp over the summer and he was one of the better players that I saw during the camp. He is just so strong physically and athletically he is head and shoulders above anyone in the area for the class.
Hemphill has been well traveled but has found a nice spot at Asheville School and has re-classed to the 2020 graduating class. This is the third time in his high school career, Hemphill was allowed a transfer. He previously played at Brevard and West Henderson before joining East Henderson last season.
The 16-year old Hemphill may be one of the most gifted college ready bodies in the region. He has great shoulders and frame, can attack the rim, throws down high-flying dunks and has the ability to shoot it from the three-point line in.
Hemphill scored 15 points for The Blues in a loss to rival Asheville Christian Academy yesterday. He has been putting up steady numbers all season and by the end of his time at Asheville School should be a Division II-low level Division I recruit with his size and athletic ability.
