The 6-foot-1 lefty, who recorded 18 points (5/9 FG, 4/7 3FG, 4/5 FT), 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 turnover in his team’s most recent win, has been a reliable option in the backcourt for the 4-1 Mustangs. Russell described his overall game and outlined his goals during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: What is your role for the team like this year?
AR: “Basically a scorer. Not just a shooter, but a scorer.”
PH: What are the most improved aspects of your overall game?
AR: “My coaches helped me with my defense. I’m still working on it though.”
PH: What are your grades like?
AR: “A’s and B’s. In the 3.0 range.”
PH: What are some individual and personal goals you’ve set?
AR: “Team goals are to win as many games as possible. Personal goals are to work on my right hand, defense, and shooting every day.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your overall game?
AR: “My ability to drive. Nobody expects me to drive because I shoot so well.”
PH: Is anyone recruiting you at the moment?
AR: “Not yet.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
AR: “The ability to space the floor. The ability to shoot well, and play good defense.”
