Penney led his team to a 20 point plus victory over Riverdale Baptist. He is an excellent pass first lead guard but can also score when his team needs a bucket. He was also breaking down defenders with his handles all game and has a go to behind the back move that Riverdale could not stop.
The last time we saw Penney was at our Top 250 Exposure Camp earlier in the fall and he was able to talk to us about his experience at that camp, “A lot of good tips, a lot of good coaches there and a lot of good players. It was a really good experience to go to and play against a lot of good players.”
Leading up to the Top 250 Camp, he had a very productive summer training back in his home country of Canada, “The summer was a lot of grinding, everybody on the team was grinding. I was back in Canada grinding, people were still here in America grinding putting in a lot of work getting ready for the season.”
Every time he had the ball in his hands I was waiting to see what type of pass he was about to make and he talked to us about how he got so elite at passing the basketball, “Again from the summer it was a lot of hard work, a lot of trainers put me through a lot of hard work and I just trained to be the best player I can be whenever I play the game.”
Overall, David has everything it takes to be a division one point guard and more low major programs need to take notice of him ASAP!
