Previewing Tea Area vs. Vermillion
Tea Area hosts Vermillion tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Tea. The Titans face the Tanagers in their first game back from Christmas break. They enter the game as the No. 1 team in Class A.
Vermillion comes into this game 3-1 after dropping their first game of the year to Tri-Valley right before Christmas. The Tanagers have huge shoes to fill this year after A.J. Plitzuweit graduated after a short but stellar career in Vermillion.
Preview:
The Titans enter just about every game this season as the favorites to win and this game won’t be any different. Last year the Tanagers came close to beating Tea with Plitzuweit but this year they don’t have him. It’s hard for teams to match up with the talent and the depth of talent the Titans have this season with four of five starters committing to play college ball next year. Vermillion has started the season off great averaging 64.8 points per game. Titans have continued to struggle on defense so if the Tanagers can score as much as they have this season they could make this one closer than the experts think. Noah Freidel and Justin Hohn have been electric to start the season. Hohn has been really playing his best ball of his career dishing out 12 assists in their last game against Garretson.
How Vermillion can pull off the upset:
The Tanagers haven’t struggled as much as many people thought to start the year but now that they are getting into some Dak-12 conference play we should see how they fare. They average 64.8 points per game so if they make the Titans really work on the defensive side and limit the Titans from going on scoring bursts the Tanagers could stick around and pull something out at the end.
Prediction: Vermillion has no playmaker like they did last year and with the Titans talent and depth I see Tea Area pull away with a double-digit win.
