Timpview vs. Santa Margarita (CA)
Timpview is currently 3-0 with a win over Box Elder who is 0-2, Orem a tough 4A contender and a bad Provo team who is 2-3. We haven’t been able to gauge Timpview that well this early. Everyone knows that they will be lead by Nate Hansen who is putting up 24 PPG. Nate recently signed with Brigham Young University. The 6’3 guard plans on serving a mission after high school for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Nate also had offers from Portland, UC Davis and UC Irvine.
Skill wise Nate can absolutely play and he is dangerous with the ball in his hands at all three levels.
The T-Birds will play Santa Margarita (CA) that features Jake Kyman (UCLA) a 6’7 SF who is a legit D1 outside threat. We had the opportunity to watch Jake play in the Adidas Gauntlet when his Dream Vision Team played Team Bradley. Jake was all over the court and he was a stone cold killer out there.
Santa Margarita comes into this game with a 6-2 record with loses to Clark (NV) a powerhouse program in Las Vegas and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (CA) another great program.
Timpview will have their hands full but if Santa Margarita plays a 2-3 zone like they have in the past the T-Birds will have a shot.
Wasatch Academy vs. South County (VA)
Wasatch Academy is no stranger to playing high school powers as they play a national schedule. The Tigers make the 1.5 drive North to Orem to face South County (VA) who finished last years season ranked 6th in the state of Virginia who returns 7 players from last years State Championship team. South County will be lead by 5’11 PG Noah Bullock who is fast and dynamic and 6’7 C Jake Latta.
Wasatch Academy is just loaded with talent and size. Richie Saunders has been a fantastic addition as he is instant offense. Mike Saunders will have a great match-up at PG. Wasatch Academy has five players scoring in double figures and lead by Tre Williams who is committed to play basketball at The University of Minnesota.
This game should be a good one that starts in a few hours.
Orem vs. Richland (WA)
Last year we saw the Boomers play and they looked great! They beat Orem, Timpanogos and Wasatch Academy. The Boomers bring a team with experience as everyone on their team is a 12th grader. They did lose their 7’3 center but they’re still big.
This is an interesting game for Orem as they have a brutal pre-season schedule to make up for a soft region they will be in this year. Puka Nacua (USC Football) will have to be special this weekend.
Lone Peak vs. Mountain View (AZ)
Lone Peak looks to stay on track as they have rattled off two in a row against an Arizona team that has a lot of height.
This summer we got to see 6’5 Zach Lyons 230 of Power House Hoops play and the kid is versatile for a big strong forward. Zach can pound with the big’s inside and trail into some smooth 3-pointers. Look or Noah Smithson and Jaxon Pollard to get up and down the court to try and wear Mountain View down.
