Player Spotlight: Mark Sears
Player: PG Mark Sears
Class: 2020
School: Muscle Shoals (AL)
AAU: Alabama Fusion
Sears is a 6′ left-handed junior that can put up points in a hurry and in a variety of ways. The first thing that is evident on film is quick first step, which looks even quicker once you see him in person. He does a good job of getting others involved (specifically teammate Mikey McIntosh) and is very effective in the open floor as he puts teammates in easy positions to make plays. Even though Sears does a good job of getting others baskets, he is a very streaky shooter from three point range. He is at his best when shooting the ball off the dribble and strung off a run of twelve straight points in a five-possession span against Sparkman (AL) in a 74-55 win earlier this season. Sears does a good job of utilizing, rejecting, and splitting the pick and roll and has consistently shown his ability to finish once he’s gotten downhill. For his final AAU campaign, the junior will again run with Alabama Fusion
as he did last year, and is already received an in-state offer from South Alabama of the Sun Belt Conference. Look for Sears to finish the season strong with Muscle Shoals and pick up more offers as we move into the 2019 calendar year as he has started to hear from some high major schools as well.
