Providence Hall is a Charter School that is located in Herriman right off of Mountain View Corridor. The school has been home to 6’6 2019 Marcus Sherwood who has attended the charter school since 2nd grade. He was not recruited and he did not move into the neighborhood to simply play basketball.
Marcus played varsity as a freshman and he scored 6 points his entire freshman year on varsity. Marcus, like most kids who are passionate about their favorite sport put in a lot of work in. He averaged 10 points per game as a sophomore and hauled in 8 rebounds per game. He increased his production from last year and was averaging 16 and 9. This year Marcus has refocused and is now scoring 23 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.
Providence Hall is currently 6-2 and their success has a lot to do with Marcus’. Only one other player is scoring in double figures.
Marcus has heard from Bethel College in Kansas and Green River in Washington. Marcus could be a great addition to a college program that needs a stretch four.
Like most successful players Marcus and his teammates will not be satisfied with a second place finish. He knows he has to shoot high percentage shots. The thing that is most impressive is that he leads by example. “I need to bring effort and energy to the table everyday.”
The work that he put in this summer is paying off. Marcus and Providence Hall will be tough out in the tournaments because they have a player that can take over games. “We have 4 returning seniors who are amazing and bring that energy. Everyone has found their role and we’re going into region strong.’
The region battle will start and end with Delta another team that has a dynamic player.
Good luck to Marcus and his team the rest of the way.
