Caleb is a 6’6 2020 player that is tough. He has to be even tougher now that he plays for Intermountain Christian High School in Sandy. Caleb is averaging 30 points per game this year, but it comes at a price. While watching a few 1A games this year some teams have players that are out there to hurt people. Whether it is something that is taught or not, is unknown, but Caleb is familiar with that type of play already. “They play rough…I’m a big guy and they foul the heck out of me. I got undercut over the weekend and landed on my tailbone.” This was actually one of the few times he was subbed out. When your putting up the numbers that Caleb is teams seem to be trying everything. Caleb credits his coach with always putting him n places where he will be successful. Caleb has seen double teams, triple teams, box and one’s, 1-3-1, you name it.
We asked Caleb if he’s gunning to score as many points as possible and he replied, “No, I’m just trying to do my best to help our team win.” I mentioned to Caleb that he was 1 point shy of the season high scorer of 50 and he simply said that he should’ve hit one more shot. That competitive nature has revived Intermountain Christian.
With region play coming up shortly and the lack of substitutes at Coach Drisdom’s disposal don’t be surprised if Caleb ends up scoring 60 or even 70 points.
These are Caleb’s numbers through 9 games:
49, 22, 29, 21, 34, 33, 13, 45, 24
Player’s like Caleb are always looking for ways to stay focused and motivated and even push themselves. Caleb doesn’t have to look far. He has a teammate in Brayden Stoddard who put up 41 points and tied a state record of 12 three-pointers.
Caleb is a college bound athlete but it’s difficult to gauge the level due to the level of competition he is playing against at the moment. When he get’s back to AAU ball it will be apparent.
Caleb has a realistic shot at going into the state record books as a player with the highest average per game which is currently 33.4 points per game. He could also surpass the most points scored in a game that is currently 58.
Currently Intermountain Christian is 6-3 with those 3 losses coming to 3A opponents. IMC is a true contender to win state.
Since 2013 when IMC only won 3 games they have steadily been improving. This year we expect them to surpass the 15 win mark as they have some young talent and players that are willing to buy into what their coach is teaching.
We wish Caleb and his teammates luck the rest of the season.
