Continue ReadingCameron has been playing extremely well for Taylorsville this season. Last year the 6’3 G was averaging 10 or so points per game. This year he is averaging over 20 points per game. Last year at this time Taylorsville was still win less, in fact Taylorville went win less all season. Cameron is a big reason for that change.
When speaking with Cameron he mention that the biggest obstacle was getting rid of the loosing culture at Taylorsville. “Last year everyone quit early in the season. This year we never give up and we keep fighting.’ Taylorville is 2-2 but lost a tight game to Park City and a one point game to Skyline. In the two wins Cameron has hit pressure free-throws at the end of both games to seal those wins up.
Cameron has embraced the leadership role this year and as a soft spoken young man he leads by example. Cam has been asked to help out with the point guard duties and is relishing the opportunity to help his young squad get involved. With athleticism and sneaky quickness Cameron finds different ways to score. “I just play hard and try to set a good example. We’ve been in some close games and I try to keep everyone calm in those situations.”
This summer Cameron had an opportunity to refine some skills to help Taylorsville improve. Cam played with Salt Lake Bounce this summer and in some games he was their leading scorer as well. In the FAB 48 we saw Cameron score 27 points to help his team beat an Adidas program from Texas.
Cameron worked on a lot of things this summer. “I worked on my IQ, Mid-Range game and dribbling” He also mentioned that he knows he has a lot to learn and work on but is up for the challenge.
Cameron also excels in the classroom and will be a great find for a DIII, NAIA or JUCO program as he can play 3 positions and guard them as well.
Although Cameron is realistic of his teams limits, he plans to push his team as far as he can. Taylorsville has 5-7 games that they have a chance to win the rest of the way. Look for Cameron to continue to score 20 plus points per game. Winning those games would be a major turnaround from last season.
