Player of the Week: Week 1
We had a pretty impressive opening week of the season in the bluegrass state and have some very strong nominees for player of the week! Here’s the list of nominees. Make sure you vote for your favorite!
University Heights Senior KyKy Tandy – The Xavier signee led the Blazers to 3 wins over Murray, Callaway (MS) and Doss. In the 3 wins, Tandy averaged 25 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game. KyKy was named Player of the Game with his 31 points and 7 rebounds at the Marshall County Hoopfest.
Pendleton County’s Dontaie Allen – The future Kentucky Wildcat averaged 43.3 points, 17 rebounds and 3 dunks per game in a week where his team went 2-1 in 3 road games. Dontaie nearly matched the Hoopfest record for rebounds in a game with 21 against Marshall County.
Mercer County’s Carter Baughman – The Senior point guard for the Titans scored 27 points against Sheldon Clark at the Legacy Nissan Classic and was named Player of the Game Friday then followed that up with 28 points against Knott County Central on Saturday.
North Bullitt’s Logan Steinmacher – Logan averaged 26 points and 7 rebounds per game from the point guard spot. Led North Bullitt to an upset win over Bardstown with 32 points. Added 26 points against Shelby County and 19 points against Waggener.
Central Hardin’s Jacob Hobbs – The Lipscomb signee led Central Hardin to a 2-0 record while averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks per game in the two wins.
Henry Clay’s Marques Warrick – The talented Junior had 27 points against Frederick Douglass on Tuesday night then followed that with 19 points against Tates Creek on Friday night.
