Player Of The Week: Week 1 Florida
The opening week of FHSAA basketball started this week. There were a ton of games and action across the state of Florida.
With that being said, we look at our four nominees for Player Of The Week for Week 1.
Niven Glover (Oak Ridge)
For the Pioneers, the season has gone their way so far with a 3-0 record. A matchup with Osceola is on deck for Saturday night at the Breast Cancer Awareness Classic. 2019 guard Niven Glover had a 30 point outing in the opener against Edgewater and then 20 points against Timber Creek.
Chase Johnston (Westminster)
In an overtime win over Palmetto at the HoopHall Invitational on Wednesday, 2019 guard Chase Johnston brought his team back with a 22-point showing. He had a 41 point performance in a win over Benjamin, sitting the entire fourth quarter. The Purdue-Fort Wayne commit has 16 3’s in just two games this season.
Michael Gavin (Lake Mary Prep)
2019 guard Michael Gavin had a 41-point outing in a victory over Faith Christian on Thursday. He hit a buzzer beater in a win over DeLand earlier in the week with a 22-point game (VIDEO).
Emanuel Sharp (Blake)
The Yellow Jackets went 1-1 this week, losing to Steinbrenner by four points and beating Middleton 63-55 on Friday. 2022 guard Emanuel Sharp scored 38 points in the opener against Steinbrenner before adding 30 in the win over Middleton.
