Devin Gillespie – Cheraw HS
Gillespie 6’2 has grown in the past year for the Braes. Gillespie played off the ball here today and scored 4 points in the Braves 77-72 victory over Calhoun County HS. Gillespie with Terry Jr. played this past summer Team Wall-Southeast Marion 2022 on the Grassroots Circuit.
Carlton Terry Jr. – Conway HS
Terry Jr. had 6 points in a loss to Keenan HS 61-60. Terry Jr, will for sure soon get more and more minutes for the Tigers. Terry Jr. can make shots on the perimeter and really plays a unselfish game . Terry Jr. could some day take the Tigers to next step along with Huffman. Head Coach Mike Hopkins has to be very happy with the progress of his freshmen along with his squad this season.
EJ Huffman – Conway HS
Huffman we have seen like 3 times this season now. Huffman 6’4 comes off the bench for the Tigers but when on the floor he is not afraid to get involved in the action. Huffman runs the floor well and will at times absorb contact. Huffman just needs more playing time in due time playing behind Tonka Hemingway and Timothy Steele,
Mikah Nelson – Carolina Forest HS
Nelson is really starting to figure things out for the Panthers. Nelson 6’4 really runs the floor well and moves well without the basketball. Nelson rebounds on both ends and doesn’t seem to play timid at all. Nelson has made his way into the starting lineup for the Panthers. Nelson scored 9 points in the opener vs Franklin County (GA).
Russell Brunson Jr. – Calhoun County HS (St Matthews)
Brunson a left-handed point guard starts for legendary Head Coach Zam Fredrick in the Saints backcourt. Brunson at times showed to be young with 7 turnovers. Brunson didn’t get flustered on the floor and made some crisp passes when he go back on track. Brunson Jr and Michael will be two good building blocks for the Saints program in the years to follow.
Chris Michael – Calhoun County HS (St Matthews) (pictured on front)
Michael played off the ball for the most part today for the Saints. Michael connected on a few three pointers and his stroke seemed to be right on for the most part. Michael finished with 8 points in a loss to Cheraw HS.
