Lions wing DJ Rodman scored 29 points, including a game-winner with 0.5 seconds left on the clock, to give JSerra the 63-62 victory.
Here’s the first five performers from the week-long event.
Josh Christopher, Mayfair
Christopher, as we are all very much aware of, is one of the most talented junior prospects in the country and his time at the NOCC’s proved it. Christopher dropped 38 points in the championship loss to JSerra and did so efficiently, shooting 11-for-22 from the field while hitting his patented high degree of difficulty shots.
Ian Martinez, JSerra
Martinez is one of the best athletes in Southern California and he showed that when starting out the championship game with a windmill dunk. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard scored 26 in the title game and earned tournament MVP honors for his efforts throughout the week.

Rodman was the hero of the championship game, dropping 29 points and the game-winning 3-point shot with 0.5 seconds to get it off. The 6-foot-4 wing connected on 12-of-his-14 field goal attempts that game, and it could have been more, as he was sidelined with foul trouble during the third quarter.
Michael Ofoegbu, Mayfair
Ofoegbu is starting turn the corner from a development standpoint and it’s translating to the court. The 6-foot-6 forward is as bouncy as they come, aggressive when he attacks the basket and is starting to finish through contact around the rim.
Sam Howlin, La Habra
The 6-foot-9 center is one of the more under-the-radar prospects in all of Southern California. He’s mobile for his size, has soft touch around the basket and can knock in free throws with consistency. Howlin, who is committed to William-Jessup, is also a solid rim protector and rebounder in his space.
