North Dakota Class B Games to Watch
The High School season is young but there have already been some impressive showings by unexpected – and expected – teams. With a number of good matchups on the docket this week, there’s going to be good basketball going on all over the state.
Here are some games to watch in Class B this week:
Carrington vs. Benson County – Saturday, Dec. 15
Benson County won 13 games a year ago and gave Carrington a good game around this time a year ago. Both teams have aspirations of competing for a chance at the state tournament in their respective districts. This is a good litmus test game for both teams. Seth Nelson is a guy to watch for the Cardinals while the Wildcats have Keaton Nelson and Carter Tandeski.
Bishop Ryan at Shiloh – Saturday, Dec. 15
This is matchup that we could see again in March as both teams are among the best in Class B. Bishop Ryan’s got the dynamic guards in Ben Bohl and Mason Hedberg while Shiloh’s got one of the top frontcourt duos in Macauley Young and Jaden Mitzel. Shiloh just lost to Dickinson Trinity to start the season, so we’ll see if the Skyhawks can avoid an 0-2 start and get a big time win.
Oak Grove vs. Four Winds/Minnewaukan – Saturday, Dec. 15
Four Winds picked up a monster win to start the year, blowing out Grafton/St. Thomas while Oak Grove is yet to play a game this year. The Grovers open the season with Hawley Thursday and get Four Winds Saturday. As is the case with most games at this time of year, this is a really good litmus test game as both teams are have high expectations coming into the season. Can Oak Grove get back to state out of Region 1? Four Winds figures to contend in Region 4. This could be a game where we learn a lot about both clubs.
The CNDC Tournament – Thursday-Saturday
More on that later as it features a handful of the best teams in Class B
