North Dakota Class B Games to Watch – December 24-29
The Holiday season is here which means good basketball tournaments and events. Most of the Class A teams don’t play in any holiday tournaments so it’s mostly business as usual. Some of the top teams in Class A don’t play at all over the holiday break but there are still some intriguing matchups this week at the Class B level. Here are some games to watch for:
Hillsboro/Central Valley vs. Richland and Oak Grove – Thursday and Friday, December 27-28
Hillsboro is undefeated on the young season but hasn’t really been tested thus far. The Burros will get a couple good tests after Christmas when they host Richland and Oak Grove Thursday and Friday as part of the Hillsboro Holiday Hoops Showcase. Richland is undefeated early in the year while Oak Grove’s struggled against very good competition. All three teams have state tournament aspirations this winter so both these games will be good litmus test affairs.
Ray vs. Stanley – Friday, December 28
Two of the teams that figure to contend in Region 8 get an early look at one another Friday when Ray hosts Stanley. The Jays are 4-1 on the season and just avenged a 26-point loss to Powers Lake from the first week in the season by beating the Ranchers by 11 in Powers Lake. Stanley is off to a 4-1 start with wins over Des Lacs Burlington and Burke County in particular.
Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier vs. Enderlin – Saturday, December 29
This is one of the headliner in the Jamestown University Shootout as E/K/M and Enderlin are among the best teams in Class B early in the season. Isaac Huber and Alex Huber lead the Rebels while senior guard Chance Bye is a player to watch as the conductor of a young and extremely talented Enderlin squad.
