North Dakota Class A Teams of the Week – December 17-22
The season is young, but there have already been a number of teams with resume-boosting wins. There haven’t been too many surprises early in the season but with a wealth of talent spread all over the state, there seems to be quite a bit of parity among the teams in both the EDC and WDA. With that in mind, there are always opportunities for good wins and strong weeks. Here are a couple teams that pieced together strong weeks:
Bismarck
The Demons have won four straight since consecutive losses to Mandan and Jamestown in the first week of December. Last week, Bismarck picked up a key win against Bismarck Century Tuesday before dominating Bismarck St. Mary’s behind 38 points from senior guard Joe Jahner.
Mandan
The Braves have played a very difficult schedule thus far on the season and have come out of it with a 4-2 record. Mandan earned arguably its best win of the season Thursday, defeating Minot 86-83 behind 19 points and 12 rebounds from Elijiah Klein and a combined 31 points and 12 assists from Trey and Jaxon Wiest. The Braves came back and beat Turtle Mountain Thursday.
West Fargo Sheyenne
The Mustangs are undefeated on the season and earned arguably their best win of the season Saturday when they beat West Fargo 85-73. They beat Wahpeton on the road earlier in the week as well, setting up what should be one of the best games of the year the Friday after new years against Fargo Davies.
