ND Class A Games to Watch: Jan 2-5
The new year means most teams will be getting into the nitty gritty of conference play. The holidays are over and with them, weird schedules. Now normalcy for the foreseeable future. Normal in North Dakota means good basketball practically every night.
Here are some of the top games on the schedule this week:
Fargo Davies at West Fargo Sheyenne – Friday, Jan. 4
This is the biggest game in Class A North Dakota so far this season. The Eagles and Mustangs are the top two teams in Class A thus far and undefeated on the season. The winner automatically has a leg up in what figures to be a tight race for EDC supremacy. Braeton Motschenbacher, Cole Hage and Jaden Klabo against Christian Kuntz, Tyler Terhark and Blake Berg should make for a lot of fun.
Fargo North at West Fargo – Friday, Jan. 4
Fargo folks don’t have to travel much this week if they want to watch their favorite teams. Fargo North heads to West Fargo to take on the Packers and while the Spartans aren’t likely a contender in the EDC this season, they’ve got the firepower to put fear into those who are. The Packers are among the top teams in the league. It’s a big vs small affair as Keaton Hoeg and Cayden Rickard can pile up points for the Spartans while Luke Lennon and Hunter Lyman may represent the best frontcourt duo in Class A.
Bismarck at Minot – Friday, Jan. 4
The best matchup in the WDA this week pits two of the best guards in the league against one another as Joe Jahner and the Demons head to Minot to face Jaxon Gunville and the Magicians. Both teams are up towards the top of the league right now, seemingly settling into that second tier behind Jamestown and Mandan. The top of the league figures to cannibalize itself over the course of the year though so this win could be important down the line.
