BEST DEFENDER | MEKHI LONG | BISHOP MCNAMARA ‘19
Defense was the key to McNamara’s blowout win over Bullis, and Mekhi Long was the centerpiece of their game plan on that end of the floor. The Rhode Island commit showcased his versatility by defending a variety of positions on the floor and stuffing the stat sheet, recording 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. A big reason why Long makes an impact defensively is because he plays extremely hard, and is not afraid to fight for any 50/50 ball.
BEST BIG MAN | HUNTER DICKINSON | DEMATHA ‘20
Hunter Dickinson was a significant inside presence on both ends of the court during his team’s win over Roman Catholic. The skilled 7’1 big man was efficient with the ball and flashed his wide arsenal of low post moves, but also showed that he can attack while facing the basket as well.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | DUG MCDANIEL | PAUL VI ‘22
Dug McDaniel continues to shine after gracefully embracing a much larger role than many had anticipated. The skilled freshman, who by all accounts is an excellent passer with tremendous court vision, is also a good rebounding guard as we’ve seen these past few games. McDaniel flirted with a triple double, recording 13 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 turnovers while earning Co-MVP honors in a win over Nicolet.
BEST POINT GUARD | ISAIAH WILSON | FIRST LOVE ‘20
Isaiah Wilson was a major catalyst in his team’s hard-fought win over National Christian in one of the most competitive games of the day. Wilson is not a big guard, listed at 5’11, but probably closer to 5’9, and he is tough as nails. He showed the ability to make shots, get in the paint consistently, and find his teammates.
